Syrah, or Shiraz, is a red grape variety with controversial origins. Some believe it originated in Iran, while others sustain that its historical roots are linked to the territory around Syracuse, from which, they say, it was then dispersed only to be reintroduced to Italy from neighbouring France.
Colour: ruby red with purple hues
Bouquet: intense and fruity with hints of small black berries and spices, among which black pepper is evident
Taste: good structure and persistence, it is soft and fresh, just slightly tannic
